Frequently asked questions
What is the schedule?
The Academy program runs during the school year, from September to the end of May.
We take a week off for Thanksgiving and 2 weeks off during the winter break.
How many kids per class?
We limit each class to no more than 12 players, and we run 2 classes at the same time. Kids are split into groups based on ability and friends in the class.
What happens if your player is unable to attend class?
We do not offer makeup classes if a player is unable to attend. You can review the lesson in the OP36 app and get some additional practice in before the next class.
Do we require a contract?
We do not require a contract for your player to join our program. We have found that a 3-month commitment is helpful, especially for brand-new players.
Golf is one of the few sports that players can play their entire life. We want players to be excited about golf. 3 months is a good time frame to learn our program, meet the coaches, and start to improve.
Can I move classes?
Once you pick a class, that spot is yours until you tell us otherwise. If you would like to move classes, we will make the switch if we have an opening.
Does each player need their own equipment?
Yes, each player needs their own golf clubs. For a beginner player, a 5-club set is appropriate. As they grow and continue playing, you can add clubs to the bag.
TESTAMONIALS
- The Academy has been an enjoyable experience for my son. He looks forward to it every week. Even though golf is an individual sport it is nice for him to practice with the same kids every week. Being able to play on a golf course with a coach is a bonus. The staff is wonderful with the kids.Tracy C //
- I am pleased and honored to be writing this testimonial for Matt Clay and Milo Bryant for The Academy at Del Mar Golf Center. My daughter, Zoe 6 years old, took ballet and gymnastics for the past several years but has never participated in other sports. When I heard about The Academy program, I was curious about how she would take to it, therefore, I signed her up in May 2014, and then, enrolled her in the summer camp that was 2 hours, every day for 2 weeks. The Academy program began in August. It is now January; as I reflect and watch Zoe, I realize that The Academy program, Matt and Milo, have helped Zoe transform into an athlete. An athlete who has coordination, strength, and can swing a golf club and can plank up to 4 minutes (with a brief break)! Zoe loves the program, the games and adores Matt and Milo. I am so thankful for Matt and Milo and appreciate everything they do for her and the other children!Teresa P //
